We find out what the new shows are and where veteran shows will be shown during the week. On Sunday it was NBC’s turn to present it’s schedule. Some TV shows canceled this week
Shows I watched that were canceled this week (clockwise from l to r) Body of Proof, Whitney, Vegas, & Happy Endings

Next week the networks will be presenting their new schedules for the 2013-2014 TV season. In order to make room for new shows, the networks have to cancel current shows. This time of year is tough for me because they will always cancel a show I liked or not cancel a show I hated. Here are some thoughts on a selected list of shows that I watched and were canceled.

created featured image for TV Mid-Season reportDecember to the beginning of the new year is usually the time the TV networks take a break from showing new episodes of shows. Mason Cook, Eddie Izzard, and Charity Wakefield in Mockingbird Lane

NBC did something unusual Friday night October 26th. They broadcast the pilot of a rejected series titled “Mockingbird Lane” as a one off special since it fit in with the coming Halloween holiday. Although I find these shows interesting now, once the season begins and I see the shows in season I may change my mind.

NBC, like ABC, is thin in shows that I’m interested in but it does have one of the new shows at the top of my list for this TV season.

image of NBC's 2012 London Olympics logoThe 2012 Summer Olympics started this week in London. NBC is the broadcasting rights holder for the United States. It announced that it would provide 5,535 hours of coverage of the London Olympics over the various NBC/Universal channels and for the first time comprehensive streaming on the NBC Olympics website. But starting with the opening ceremonies the complainers have started complaining about the coverage. They do make some points but a couple of the major complaints are wrong headed.

Some of the TV shows I liked during the 2011-2012 season

This month ends the regular 2011-2012 TV season. Most shows are showing their season or series finales and I wanted to mention my thoughts on the season for specific shows that I mentioned in previous posts. Overall many of the shows I watched had good seasons although some shows had issues. I thought on the whole this TV season was good – except for most of the reality shows I can’t stand.
