Like Winning The Lottery – Luscious Jackson Is Back In My Life

While checking out the guest list for the Monday 11/18 edition of the Late Show with David Letterman, I noticed the musical guest was listed as Luscious Jackson. What?? They were one of my favorite bands back in the late 90s and I thought they broke up years ago. Sure enough they released their first album in 14 years titled ‘Magic Hour’ and it is as great as their albums back in the day. I’m deeply in love with the track they played Monday night ‘Are You Ready’.

I heard this song the other day for the first time and it blew me away. In our current autotune, over processed music it is great to hear a song performed live and it is just as great as the recorded version. In fact the entire album “Theatre Is Evil” is excellent.

It’s The End Of The World As We Know It: R.E.M Calls It A Day

Image of the classic lineup of R.E.MOn Wednesday the rock band R.E.M released a statement announcing they would be ending the band after 31 years together. I “met” the band through my college roommate Mike. He played the album “Murmur” for me and I was hooked. “Green” was one of the first CD’s I bought when I was able to afford a CD player (I’m old kids). I love all their songs and albums but if I was forced to choose, these three would be at the very top of the list.
