Who Knew There Was More To Career Opportunities Than Jennifer Connelly Roller Skating?

I could watch an entire movie of just this

I swear, as minute after minute ticked off as I re-watched the 1991 comedy ‘Career Opportunities‘, I kept saying to myself: ‘where is the roller skating?’ Of course how I remembered the film had nothing to do with how the film actually plays out. I could have sworn it was 83 minutes of Jennifer Connelly roller skating around a Target store – who knew that other people were in the film.

Luscious Jackson – Gabby Glaser, Jill Cunniff, and Kate Schellenbach

While checking out the guest list for the Monday 11/18 edition of the Late Show with David Letterman, I noticed the musical guest was listed as Luscious Jackson. What?? They were one of my favorite bands back in the late 90s and I thought they broke up years ago. Sure enough they released their first album in 14 years titled ‘Magic Hour’ and it is as great as their albums back in the day. I’m deeply in love with the track they played Monday night ‘Are You Ready’.

We are a month into the new television season and it’s going about how I expected it. Some of the shows I didn’t care for I didn’t like and some got canceled right away and the ones I thought I would like, I did. There were a couple of new shows that I feel broke out from the crowd and one still to be seen.

Monday night, FOX debuted the new show ‘Sleepy Hollow’. They bill it as a mystery-adventure drama but comes off as an entertaining crazy-fest mixing the supernatural and historical events. Don’t mistake this for anything more than a free-for-all rather than a serious alternative history show. I don’t normally watch or enjoy supernatural based shows but this one I could watch again just to see how off the rails it gets. It isn’t a waste of time, yet.

Two Fox Comedies Debuted. One Is Better Than The Other

Logo for the FOX NetworkTuesday night had the premiere of two new comedies on FOX. ‘Dads’ and ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ won’t the set the TV world on fire but in my view they weren’t terrible. It is tough to judge a new show based only on the first episode, but I thought Brooklyn Nine-Nine was slightly better. I do think both shows have promise.

The other day I checked out the video for Miley Cyrus’ song ‘Wrecking Ball’. I wanted to hate the song soooo bad. But the song is actually a pretty nice ballad. The video is over the top but the music is decent.

Under The Dome Is WTF Television

Posted on by

poster for Under the DomeOne of the TV shows I’ve been watching this summer is ‘Under the Dome’ on CBS. The show has grown on me as it shrugs off the usual tropes of series television. It is one part dystopian drama and one part supernatural mystery. It has been creating many ‘WTF’ moments for me in its first season even though I don’t think the show has much of a long term life after the novelty wears off.
