Lake Street Dive is a Jazzy Pop Treat

Posted on by

cover to new Lake Street Dive albumThe other day I caught Lake Street Dive (LSD) on the Colbert Report show and checked out a video of the song they did. Loved it. They have a pop-jazz mix going on that sounds fresh. Their new album, coming out soon, ‘Bad Self Portraits’ has some great original tunes like the title song, ‘Rabid Animal’, and the tune that brought me into the fold – ‘You Go Down Smooth.’

Vocalist Rachael Price has a great bluesy voice and you aren’t sure what instruments Mike “McDuck” Olson doesn’t know how to play in the three piece band. I also like they think of themselves as a live band first. In these days of overproduced processed auto-tune dreck, LSD is a nice change of pace.
