Big Brother started its 15th cycle Wednesday night (6/26) and like other seasons the show changed some things. They are having a longer season, a new house, and at least one interesting game twist. Even after spending more cash on the show, CBS still broadcasts it in Standard Definition. Time will tell if the changes make for an improved show but it’s still a good summer time waster. At least until they get down to the last few people.
For the First Time, Three Houseguests will Find Themselves Nominated for Eviction
Viewers to Play an Influential Role in the Game of BIG BROTHER This Summer by Voting for the “Big Brother MVP”
BIG BROTHER Returns with a Stylish Mid-Century Modern Chic Design and a New “Live Show” Set
BIG BROTHER will unleash two new twists into the stylish, redesigned house this summer that will influence the strategic landscape of the game when it premieres on Wednesday, June 26 (8:00-9:00PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Julie Chen is the host.
The first twist is a series’ first: instead of two Houseguests being nominated each week for eviction, as in past seasons, contestants will nominate three in this summer’s edition. This process will be further explained during the season premiere.
The second twist will allow BIG BROTHER viewers to play a crucial role in the game by casting votes for the Houseguest they feel is playing the best game. The Houseguest who receives the most votes will be anointed that week’s, “Big Brother MVP.” The full scope of the MVP’s secret power will be revealed during the season premiere.
America will start casting their votes for this season’s first “Big Brother MVP” before the Houseguests even enter the game, beginning with a pre-premiere vote starting Thursday, June 20, following CBS’s cast announcement of the new Houseguests. Fans can visit http://www.cbs.com/bbmvp to cast their vote.
“The Big Brother MVP will force the houseguests to rethink their strategies. With America rewarding good game play, it doesn’t pay to be a floater this summer,” said Allison Grodner and Rich Meehan, Executive Producers of BIG BROTHER.
First of all if anyone thinks that the MVP will be selected because of game play, then I have a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you. Normal people know the MVP award will be for the biggest penis or boobs and have NOTHING to do with game play. The producers seem to forget what a popularity poll does to a game like American Idol.
I do like the idea of three people being put up as it will lessen the pawn setups we see all the time. The MVP and their choice for the third nominee will be secret if the MVP person keeps it a secret. But we also know some people will stupidly spill the beans.
This cycle’s cast is 99% new which is good but the producers are milking the Rachel Reilly train again by casting her sister Elissa. As usual there are too many white people and models/bartenders.
I’ll still check it out.
A Big Brother “fansite” I recommend is Dingo’s Hamster Watch. Dingo reports on the stuff that goes on in the live feeds. The episodes on CBS show only a small part of what goes on and sometimes it is manipulated or edited to tell the story the producers want.
If you don’t want or can’t afford the live feeds, TV Guide Network (TVGN) is showing a live feed for a couple of hours each night starting at midnight eastern. Again the live feeds is where the real show happens and you might find out things sooner before it appears on the regular CBS time slot.
