My Favorite Year – 1976

Posted on by

?Everyone has a special time of year in their lives that they remember. It’s almost like it happened yesterday and leaves one with such good feelings that you want to relive that one year over and over if you could. For me 1976 is that year. Not just because it was the US Bicentennial but the time I had and the music on the radio brings back warm and fuzzy memories of that time.

The TV shows I remember the best were The Six Million Dollar Man, Saturday Night Live, Welcome Back, Kotter, Quincy, M.E., Battle of the Network Stars, Saturday Morning cartoons, and The Carol Burnett Show. In fact, for me TV was the best then.

The summer of 1976 is my favorite part of the year to remember. We spent some time at Spring Lake to swim. My hometown park district held a kids Olympics, and I had my first transistor radio. I got to listen to music like this:

Paul McCartney & Wings – Silly Love Songs

Starland Vocal Band – Afternoon Delight

Elton John & Kiki Dee – Don’t Go Breakin’ My Heart

Orleans – Still The One
