One of my favorite TV shows, Rules of Engagement (CBS) had great stunt casting for their second episode of their 6th season. I have just one word: Booger!
Curtis Armstrong, who played “Dudley ‘Booger’ Dawson” in four “Revenge of the Nerds” movies, plays himself on Rules. He happens to be a friend of Adam [Oliver Hudson] and in the usual metro sexual Adam plotting, they met during a rain shower while trying to use the same Taxi. The fun part was that Armstrong was playing himself. Usually stunt casting has the star playing a character. He even gives Jeff bad advice to use on Audrey.
The other sub story was a visit by Russell’s father Franklin Dunbar, played by Geoff Pierson. Franklin is an older version of Russell (shallow, vain, lecherous, etc…). Russell, Timmy, Franklin, and Russell’s “wife” Liz had some funny jokes.
I’m still not sure how the whole “Russell is married” plot will work out but Wendi McLendon-Covey as Liz is hitting home runs.
I’m also still trying to figure out why they dumbed Adam so much and moved him and Jennifer [Bianca Kajlich] to the back burner. I get that the “Russell” character has had some killer bits but usually if characters peter out creatively then they move on.
Tonight had good balance and I hope it continues.
