It’s The End Of The World As We Know It: R.E.M Calls It A Day

Posted on by

Image of the classic lineup of R.E.MOn Wednesday the rock band R.E.M released a statement announcing they would be ending the band after 31 years together. I “met” the band through my college roommate Mike. He played the album “Murmur” for me and I was hooked. “Green” was one of the first CD’s I bought when I was able to afford a CD player (I’m old kids). I love all their songs and albums but if I was forced to choose, these three would be at the very top of the list.

“Cant Get There from Here” from Fables of the Reconstruction (1985)

“Cuyahoga” from Lifes Rich Pageant (1986)

“Crush with Eyeliner” from Monster (1995)

Hey Doug, R.E.M's passing was long over due,but still kind of sad that another of the bands of the 80,s has now passed on to Rock oblivion. Great piece !

I know their best music was in the past and I'm glad they won't be doing classic tours like some bands past their prime. I'm sure they have enough cash they never HAVE to work again.
