When I arrived at the Ohio State dorms my freshman year in 1986, we all did the same thing the first few days before classes started. We looked at each other’s music collections. Back then cassettes were more common. The guy who lived next door to me had a Peter Cetera tape among his Led Zeppelin and RUSH albums. I picked it up and said “Peter Cetera?” and he said “It’s my girlfriend’s tape.” I said “Sure it is…” and I had a good laugh.
He went so far as to call her on the phone to tell me that the Peter Cetera album was her’s – she forced him to buy it for her.
In tribute to guys who get forced to buy stuff for the women in their lives here is a video clip of Peter Cetera’s “Glory of Love.”
